http request and update google sheets and append google sheets
Configured with Google Sheets, HTTP Request, Schedule Trigger. Review the connections and setup before adapting this template.
Node categories in this workflow
- Transform
- Web / API
- Data store
- Code
- Trigger
Icons describe general node roles, inferred from node types. Inspect the parameters for the configured action.
Drag to pan; use + and − to zoom. Reconstructed from the exported node positions; nothing runs here. Dashed lines represent non-main connections. Full node names and notes appear below.
How it works
The exported workflow contains the following configured nodes. Their connections are shown above; inspect the JSON for the complete logic, expressions, and external actions.
| Node | Category | Type | Operation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filter Fields | Transform | Edit Fields | See node parameters |
| Final Outputs | Transform | Merge | See node parameters |
| USD Query | Web / API | HTTP Request | See node parameters |
| Update Rate Sheet | Data store | Google Sheets | update |
| Archive Rates | Data store | Google Sheets | append |
| Format Output to JSON | Code | Code | See node parameters |
| Trigger - 08:00 am | Trigger | Schedule Trigger | See node parameters |
Setup
- Download the JSON and import it into an isolated n8n instance. Leave the workflow inactive.
- Connect your own credentials through n8n’s credential store. Replace
REPLACE_WITH_*values with your resource identifiers. - Inspect API destinations, Code nodes, database queries, file paths, and outbound actions.
- Run with synthetic data and harmless destinations. Enable triggers only after checking the actual outputs.
Requirements
An n8n instance with the listed node types and compatible versions. Service-connected workflows may require accounts, credentials, or paid APIs.
Credential types declared in the source
None declared. HTTP requests and Code nodes may still need configuration.
Workflow notes
2. Update Rates and Record Data
2. Update Rates and Record Data
The results are recorded in two sheets
- The invoice template sheet with the exchange rate and the update date
- A record sheet that includes all the conversions from the base currency to any target currency
How to setup?
- Update Results in Google Sheets:
- Copy and paste the template of Google Sheet: Template Sheet
- Add your Google Sheet API credentials to access the Google Sheet file
- Select the file using the list, an URL or an ID
- Select the sheet in which the vocabulary list is stored Learn more about the Google Sheet Node
1. Setup the Trigger and Exchange API Call
1. Setup the Trigger and Exchange API Call
The scheduler will trigger the workflow every morning at 08:00. It starts with an API call to collect the exchange rate of USD to all currency.
How to setup?
- Put your API Key for exchange rate:
- Sign up for a free tier and get your API key: API Documentation
- Replace the placeholder in the HTTP request node <REPLACE_WITH_CREDENTIAL> with your key

Setup
Import inactive. Configure your own credentials and replace REPLACE_WITH_* values. Review external destinations and Code nodes before running.
