Icons describe general node roles, inferred from node types. Inspect the parameters for the configured action.
Drag to pan; use + and − to zoom. Reconstructed from the exported node positions; nothing runs here. Dashed lines represent non-main connections. Full node names and notes appear below.
How it works
The exported workflow contains the following configured nodes. Their connections are shown above; inspect the JSON for the complete logic, expressions, and external actions.
| Node | Category | Type | Operation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loop Over Items | Routing | Loop Over Items | See node parameters |
| When clicking ‘Test workflow’ | Trigger | Manual Trigger | See node parameters |
| Reads Google Sheets | Data store | Google Sheets | See node parameters |
| Cleans backlink url | Code | Code | See node parameters |
| Sends HTTP POST Request to DataForSEO | Web / API | HTTP Request | POST |
| Waits 20 seconds | Wait | Wait | See node parameters |
| Sends HTTP links request to DataforSeo | Web / API | HTTP Request | POST |
| Checks which backlinks exists on the landing page | Code | Code | See node parameters |
| Sends data to Google sheets | Data store | Google Sheets | appendOrUpdate |
Setup
- Download the JSON and import it into an isolated n8n instance. Leave the workflow inactive.
- Connect your own credentials through n8n’s credential store. Replace
REPLACE_WITH_*values with your resource identifiers. - Inspect API destinations, Code nodes, database queries, file paths, and outbound actions.
- Run with synthetic data and harmless destinations. Enable triggers only after checking the actual outputs.
Requirements
An n8n instance with the listed node types and compatible versions. Service-connected workflows may require accounts, credentials, or paid APIs.

Workflow notes
Sticky Note
Connect your Google Sheets account. Ensure your Google Sheet has clearly defined columns:
"Backlink URL": URL of the page containing the backlink.
"Landing page": The exact URL of your website page you're checking the backlink for.
Define your data range explicitly (e.g., D1:E) to accurately fetch these columns. The columns must be named exactly as specified to ensure the workflow functions correctly.
Configure your DataForSEO TASK POST NODE
Configure your DataForSEO TASK POST NODE
(Basic Authentication). Insert your API key and password into n8n's Credentials settings. This node sends each URL/domain pair to the DataForSEO On-Page API for analysis.
Settings:
Method:POST
URL:https://api.dataforseo.com/v3/on_page/task_post
JSON body:
[{ "target": "{{ $json.domain }}", "start_url": "{{ $json.url }}", "max_crawl_pages": 1 }]
Configure your DataForSEO ON-PAGE LINKS NODE
Configure your DataForSEO ON-PAGE LINKS NODE
Fetches the results from DataForSEO. Ensure your credentials are properly set (same as the previous DataForSEO node). This node retrieves link data, checking if the backlink exists and its status (dofollow/nofollow).
Settings: Method: Post
URL:https://api.dataforseo.com/v3/on_page/links
JSON body example:
[ { "id": "{{ $json.tasks[0].id }}" } ]
Send data to Google Sheets
Send data to Google Sheets
This node updates your Google Sheet with backlink check results.
Map each column manually as follows:
Matching Column (used to find the correct row): Backlink URL
Backlink URL: {{ $('Loop Over Items').item.json.url }}
Status: {{ $json.status }}
Make sure these columns (Backlink URL and Status) already exist in your Google Sheet and have these exact names.
This will correctly update the backlink status (e.g., Live, Lost, or Lost (Nofollow)) based on each URL processed.

Purpose and structure
This folder contains the Live link checker workflow. Its executable nodes use code, googleSheets, httpRequest, manualTrigger, splitInBatches, wait. The table and connection map below are derived from the JSON, not an inferred guarantee of behavior.
Setup
Import inactive. Configure your own credentials and replace REPLACE_WITH_* values. Review external destinations and Code nodes before running.
