Summarize Google Sheets form feedback via OpenAI's GPT-4
Configured with Aggregate, Gmail, Google Sheets, Markdown, and additional nodes. Review the connections and setup before adapting this template.
Node categories in this workflow
- Trigger
- Data store
- Transform
- AI & models
- Messaging
Icons describe general node roles, inferred from node types. Inspect the parameters for the configured action.
Drag to pan; use + and − to zoom. Reconstructed from the exported node positions; nothing runs here. Dashed lines represent non-main connections. Full node names and notes appear below.
How it works
The exported workflow contains the following configured nodes. Their connections are shown above; inspect the JSON for the complete logic, expressions, and external actions.
| Node | Category | Type | Operation |
|---|---|---|---|
| When clicking "Test workflow" | Trigger | Manual Trigger | See node parameters |
| Get Google Sheets records | Data store | Google Sheets | See node parameters |
| Aggregate responses into arrays | Transform | Aggregate | See node parameters |
| Summarize via GPT model | AI & models | Open Ai | chat |
| Convet from Markdown to HTML | Transform | Markdown | See node parameters |
| Send via Gmail | Messaging | Gmail | See node parameters |
Setup
- Download the JSON and import it into an isolated n8n instance. Leave the workflow inactive.
- Connect your own credentials through n8n’s credential store. Replace
REPLACE_WITH_*values with your resource identifiers. - Inspect API destinations, Code nodes, database queries, file paths, and outbound actions.
- Run with synthetic data and harmless destinations. Enable triggers only after checking the actual outputs.
Requirements
An n8n instance with the listed node types and compatible versions. Service-connected workflows may require accounts, credentials, or paid APIs.

Workflow notes
1. Create a Google Sheet document
1. Create a Google Sheet document
- This tutorial uses Google Sheet document connected to Google Forms, but a standalone Sheet document will work too
- Adapt initial trigger to your needs: run manually or at some time intervals
2. Combine all answers into an array
2. Combine all answers into an array
- Since the main goal is to provide an overall summary, we need to combine all answers for each Google Form question
- Aggregate Node takes multiple incoming items and produces just a single item which contains arrays of user feedback
3. Generate a summary report
3. Generate a summary report
- Enter a system message with a overall instructions on how to analyze the feedback form
- Provide a user message with JSON arrays.
NB! Consider splitting the form questions for a very long forms or when the number of responses is too high
4. Convert to HTML and send an email
4. Convert to HTML and send an email
- GPT is configured to reply in Markdown format. Markdown Node converts such text into HTML
- Finally, the Gmail node sends a message with HTML report
